Hello Family,
On behalf of the staff volunteers, and board members of the Simmons Foundation for Youth and Change, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your continued support.
We have come a long way. The first Life Skills/Basketball Camp in 2007, was conducted at East High School by civil rights activists Alvertis Simmons, coach Rudy Carey, and my daughter Joy J Walker. That particular Camp went only three days. Now that we are in our tenth year, the Camp has expanded to two weeks. The youth that participate in the camp get powerful information from business leaders, politicians, activists, religious leaders, and motivational speakers. The second component of the camp is the basketball lessons. Taught by 9 time State champion coach Rudy Corey and his son David Carey. Together, we strive to give our youth a positive chance at life and show them how to have fun playing basketball.
But none of this could be possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors. Sponsors such as Jackson Life Insurance Company, Jordan Brand, Hensel Phelps Construction, East High School, Webb Group International, Sista Love Mentoring Inc, Black Sheriffs Association, Kronke Sports, Dave Logan, Colorado Rockies, and many others.
