Joy Walker

Joy J Walker was born in Gary, Ind on April 14th,1978 to Betty and Alvertis Simmons. Joy is a graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. She has two siblings. Alisha Tashawn Simmons- Gaffney, who also has a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. Ti'Lyn is the youngest of the three sisters and is currently pursuing a degree in business. Joy J. moved to Denver, Colorado in 1983 with her family ambitious to be a leader and a trail blazer in the community. Joy J. grew up attending Zion Baptist church. She received Christ at an early age. She was elected by her peers to the position of Vice President of Diversity for the Student Government Assembly at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Currently Joy J. is the Executive Director, of Sista Love Mentoring Inc, located in Aurora, Colorado. She is also a founding member of Simmons Foundation for Youth and Change. Joy believes one must lead by example. She loves working with the youth of our community. Helping them build their self-esteem, which hopefully steers them in the right direction. Joy J. believes by being a living example of greatness and showing persistence, the children will have a actual real chance of greatness themselves.
